Newarthill boxer Charlie Flynn put a group of youngsters through their paces yesterday (Wed) as he helped promote the Great Scottish Run.
Charlie (22) joined 16 children on the running track at Crown Point Sports Complex ahead of the event being held on the first weekend of October.
He said: “It’s great for the kids. The children are all excited, it’s all to do with sport and it’s good for them.
“It’s good that they can have a good time. I love mixing with the kids and seeing their enthusiasm for taking part in sport.
“I’ll be running in the Great Scottish Run this year. I’m going to do the 10k.
“It was great last year, running around Glasgow, seeing bands playing and everyone just having a really good time.
“It had really great vibes.”
Charlie last fought in May when he defeated Abdon Cesar at the Hydro, and is due to return to the venue in the autumn.
He added: “I’m hoping to fight again on October 6 at the Hydro.
“It depends on my hand as I hurt it in training, but that’s healing up fine now and everything should be okay.
“There’s nothing been confirmed in regards to who I’ll fight, but I’ll be on the undercard for Ricky Burns and I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Great Scottish Run will take place in Glasgow on October 1 and 2, competitors can run in the 10k and half marathon events.
