Newhouse-based Terex Trucks has appointed Babcock International as the official distributor of its rigid and articulated haulers in Southern Africa.

Babcock has opened a state-of-the-art branch in Middelburg which will serve as the head office for the Terex Trucks brand.

This branch has been purpose-built with work bays large enough to accommodate artic and rigid dump trucks up to 100 tons, the largest Terex Trucks manufactures, with 13 bought for its initial stock.

In addition to supplying new machines, Babcock will also provide parts and other essential aftermarket support services to customers in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Terex Trucks will support Babcock by providing a range of commercial and technical resources, including technician training to support the complete product range.

Paul Douglas, director and general manager of Terex Trucks, said: “Partnering with Babcock, one of Africa’s most established and experienced equipment suppliers, will significantly boost the sale and support of Terex Trucks’ rigid and articulated haulers.

“This deal with Babcock, and the ongoing investment programme that Volvo Construction Equipment has sanctioned in Newhouse, covering product quality improvements, people and facilities, demonstrates how the acquisition is bearing fruit for Terex Trucks.”
