A new ‘local’ Post Office is opening at the Family Shopper in Airbles Street, Motherwell, to replace the one in Civic Square.
The service will be provided seven days a week from two open-plan counters in the store, where the Post Office terminals will sit alongside the till.
The new branch will be designed to Post Office guidelines to ensure easy access and that there is adequate space for wheelchair users.
All staff will be trained to Post Office standards and there will also be a hearing loop at the counter.
Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
A date for the opening of the new Civic Square Post Office has still to be determined, and posters will be displayed in the present branch nearer the time.
Regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.
“The investment marks a commitment to our no more branch closure programme.”
