Italian restaurant chain La Vita has announced it is to open new premises in Motherwell next year.
La Vita will take over the Old Bank Chambers building in Civic Square which was last occupied by Ballantyne and Copland solicitors after Civic Bar and Grill Limited were given planning permission for a change of use from office to bar/restaurant 12 months ago.
This will be the fifth restaurant the Arcari family has opened as part of the La Vita brand with existing premises in Glasgow, Bishopbriggs, and Newton Mearns.
Marco Arcari says it will be into the new year before they decide which of the three La Vita brands - Pizzeria, Piccolino or Sputini - the new restaurant opens as next summer.
He said: “I can confirm we are moving into the old Ballantyne and Copland building in Motherwell and are looking at opening in the summer, however things won’t be finalised until January so it will then before we know what kind of restaurant operating under the La Vita banner it will be. “
Marco says he chose Motherwell and he was looking for somewhere to the east of Glasgow and the Old Bank Chambers is in an ideal location.
He said: “Initially I was looking for somewhere in the east end of Glasgow as I’m from Ballieston so I like the area.
“Obviously Motherwell isn’t the east end, but it is east of Glasgow so I thought it would do fine especially when we found the premises in Civic Square.
“We really liked the fact it is next to Motherwell Civic Centre, particularly with the concert hall and theatre there, and in addition the football stadium is not far away so it is an ideal location and think it will do well.”
