Lidl rebuild is ready to open

Lidl UK's Motherwell store will reopen its doors to customers at 8am on Thursday after undergoing a complete rebuild and refurbishment

Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig councillor Agnes Magowan will be in attendance to cut the ribbon to the new supermarket and customers will be given the chance to sample some of Lidl’s produce throughout the day.

In addition to the opening day events, customers will be able to enjoy exclusive deals and offers on selected middle aisle products for the first week of opening, including a rice cooker, Bluetooth keyboard and hair straightening brush.

The new supermarket forms part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK which will see it open up to 50 new stores a year.

The sales area of the supermarket has increased in size to 1325m² and facilities including a bakery, customer toilets, baby changing and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Lidl UK’s regional head of property, Gordon Rafferty, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in improving our Lidl store in Motherwell.

“It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community once again.”
