A landmark Motherwell pub could disappear after being put on the market.
The 113-year-old Eagle Inn has been closed for nearly two years after storm damage and owner Eddie Coakley confirmed this week he won’t be re-opening it.
The chimney of the Bellshill Road pub collapsed in high winds in January last year, forcing workmen to remove a 10-foot section of wall.
Mr Coakley, who also owns the Strath pub in Bellshill, said a developer has expressed interest in clearing the site while another businessman is looking at retaining the building and opening a restaurant.
It’s hoped a deal will be finalised soon.
