The company says the decision to extend the Unthank Road store, which first opened 22 years ago, was due to increasing popularity and customer demand in the area.

Staff members from the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre helped store manager Lindsay Mcllreavy cut the ribbon to officially reopen the store.

A product hamper was presented to ONC’s Irene Gibson to be used as raffle prizes for some of the centre’s summer events.

Lindsay said: “A huge thanks to everyone from ONC and Irene for coming down to help us reopen the store. The team and I thoroughly enjoyed welcoming customers back into the store this morning and it was great to see some familiar faces. We look forward to meeting lots of new customers in the coming weeks.”

Bellshill customers can now benefit from an enhanced and varied shopping experience including Aldi’s exclusive Specially Selected range, weekly fresh meat offers, and famous Super 6 fruit and veg.

Plus there is the twice-weekly ‘Specialbuys’ on a wide variety of household items .
