AN Uddingston couple this week told of their relief that their two sons who live in Japan had emerged unscathed from the earthquake and tsunami which struuck the country.
Joe and Helen Lawson, of Talbot Terrace, were gripped with fear for their sons Andrew and Christopher when news first broke of the disasters.
But both are safe and well - and despite fears over the effects of the nuclear plans explosions which occured in the aftermath of the tsunami, they inist they are staying put in the country they now call home.
Christopher (27) lives with his partner Kathryn in the relatively unaffected south of the country.
But not only does Andrew (36) stay just north of Tokyo, much closer to the affected region, his Japanese wife Kaori and their sons Joe (6) and Tom (3) were visiting relatives in Sendai, which bore the brunt of the earthquake and tsunami, when the disaster struck the country.
