FEWER people are being injured in North Lanarkshire’s most accident prone roads according to new figures.

North Lanarkshire Council say there has been a reduction of 69 per cent in personal injury accidents in 25 locations with the highest road accident rates.

The local authority has monitored the areas over the last three years in a bid to improve road safety and as a result accidents are down from 178 to 55.

Motherwell’s Hamilton Road at Airbles Road and Bellshill’s Gartcosh Walk at Bellziehill roundabout are named as some of the worst accident spots.
