The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme is really taking off at Bellshill Academy.
A total of 30 pupils took part in practice walks during the in-service days in February in preparation for the camping expeditions which will take place during the Easter holidays.
Pupils walked from the school to Strathclyde Park, took part in an orienteering workshop with the Countryside Rangers and then walked back to school. Another group of pupils walked from Chatelherault Country Park to Strathclyde Park, round the loch then back to Chatelherault.
All pupils had to carry a weighted back pack to prepare them for carrying all there equipment during the expeditions.
The walks were a huge success with all pupils learning the valuable lesson of sensible footwear and plenty to eat.
