Barnardo’s Scotland has opened a Donation Centre at Bell Quadrant, Carfin, with the aim of making it easy and convenient for people to give the charity everything from bags of clothing to books an bric-a-brac.
House clearances can also be arranged by calling 078344 788 421, and a pick-up service is available for furniture donations.
The centre is open seven days a week, from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am on Sundays, and doubles as a shop offering clothing bargains for as little as 99p.
Funds raised through this new initiative will go towards Barnardo’s Scotland’s community-based work, which aims to turn around the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people.
Area business manager, Suzy Moorby said: “The Donation Centre is a fantastic creation for those who don’t have much time to stop, but would like to donate their preowned items to us and pick up great bargains.
It does not replace our other shops in Glasgow, Kirkintilloch and Wishaw which, as always, offer a great range of donated and new goods.”
The Carfin team is now appealing for all donations of preowned items, especially clothing, quality furniture and small electrical items along with homeware, toys, books, DVDs and CDs. They are also appealing for volunteers to help run the centre. Donation Centre Manager, Jamie Collings said: “If you have a few hours to spare and would like to work with a friendly team, please give us a call. There are roles to suit all.”
