Organisers of Viewpark Gala Day this week launched an urgent appeal for help amid fears that the event could have to be severely curtailed, or even cancelled.
Arrangements were well in hand for the gala which is due to take place on Saturday, June 13.
But the organisers were left reeling after arrangements with their agreed supplier of inflatables and children’s rides fell through.
Committee member Sandra Clements said: “We still have two large rides but we need kiddies’ rides and inflatables and are appealing for anyone who could help to contact us as soon as possible.
“We’ve chosen the gala queen and court and made all the arrangements for the crowning and so on, but the rides are the main feature of the afternoon’s activities.
“The last thing we want to do is disappoint the kids by calling off the gala and we’ll do everything we can to avoid that happening.
“But we need to hear from anyone who could supply us with the likes of bungee tramnpolines, small kiddies’ rides, water boats, bouncy castles and so on.
“If we can’t get an alternative supplier there’s a possibility that we’d have to look at cancelling the gala, or at least scaling it down drastically.”
Viewpark Gala Day was resurrected three years ago after an absence of more than 20 years and has proven to be an extremely popular event ever since.
Anyone who can help with the committee’s appeal can phone Sandra on 07886 822147 or contact the committee on the ViewparkGalaDay Facebook page.
