Motherwell nurse Linda Finnigan has won the honour of acting as Scotland’s dementia ambassador for an international cause.
And she aims to ensure the movement’s logo is conspicuous locally - and across the country - once her campaign gains momentum.
“I have been very active promoting dementia awareness through social media, particularly Facebook,” said Linda, “but was really surprised when the founder of a major campaign to improve people’s knowledge about the condition got in touch directly.
“I applied to be an ‘ambassador’ for the cause - it’s a strictly voluntary role - and was really delighted to be accepted.”
She added: “The inauguration day for the ambassadors was to be staged in Devon, and there was no way I could make the trip all the way there - so my ceremony was carried out via Skype.
“I’m hoping my experience working in care homes will be an advantage in communicating the issues involved.”
