IT was ‘A Night to Remember’ as more than 150 people attended a charity murder mystery event at South Dalziel Studios in Motherwell, organised by Arkeen Theatre Company.

The event raised over £3,000 for St Andrew’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK in memory Jimmy Rooney, father of company director Joanne Tulips.

She said: “Me, my brother James and sister Kristina were keen to mark the 10 years since we lost our dad through cancer.

“It’s been 10 years this November and we thought it would be nice to hold a big charity occasion.”

The entertainment began with a lively set of songs performed by students from Jazzart UK in Draffen Street, before a team of eight actors kept an eager audience guessing throughout dinner.

However, the budding detectives were up to the task of identifying the murderer and with the case closed, and puddings eaten, further entertainment came from the singing group Octave.

The evening concluded with an auction and raffle before guests could enjoy the appropriately atmospheric ambiance and party into the small hours with a disco.

Arkeen Theatre Company would like to thank all the performers who volunteered their time for A Night to Remember and sincere thanks also to all who attended and contributed towards the event in any way.
