ROY Orbison tribute act Barry Steele will be headlining Motherwell Theatre on Thursday, September 20, with a fabulous five piece show band.

This will be the second time that Barry has headed north to Motherwell from his Birmingham home, as he previously performed in the town in 2008 as Roy Orbison in the hit show ‘Rockin on Heaven’s Door’.

Not only will all the favourites by The Big O rock the house, but the Roy Orbison and Friends 75 Special will also feature hits by The Shadows, Jerry Lee Lewis plus special guests Marc J Robinson as Buddy Holly and Peter John Jackson as Johnny Cash.

As well as good music, Barry presents his all live spectacular multi-media tribute, featuring classic Orbison hits, such as ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’, ‘Only The Lonely’ and ‘Crying’, from the 60s right through to the late 80s when he joined supergroup The Travelling Wilburys alongside George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan.

Using both original and film footage from the era, Barry and his band will bring the life and character of Roy Orbison back to the centre stage, where it truly belongs, as he puts the rock back into The Big O, with his trademark dark rimmed glasses, soaring vocals and Orbison style.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets costing £19 (£18 concession) are available by calling the box office on 01698 403120 or visit NLC entertainment to book online.

The Times & Speaker has two pairs of tickets top give away to a show The Stage described as ‘true identikit brilliance’.
