MOTHERWELL band the Banter Thiefs have secured the loyalty of a new fanbase - in Norway.

The Motherwell FC supporting lads - David Clark, vocals and guitar; Derek Watson, bass; Keith Condie, guitar and Darren O’Rourke, drums - hooked up with friends made at the Europa League match against Aalesunds at Fir Park in 2010.

And despite the chilly Scandinavian weather, they were given a warm reception.

Derek said: “The Norway trip came around after Motherwell played Aalesunds in the Europa League a few years ago.

“We kept in touch with some friends we made that night at Fir Park and it grew from there.

“They play our songs before the games and it’s crazy to think that they liked the music so much that they paid for our flights over and treated us like royalty.”

As well as getting in a few performances, the lads were interviewed for national TV and even allowed on the pitch for a spot of keepy-uppy.
