A SERIES of courses in Viewpark is helping parents build a better bond with their babies and toddlers.
The courses have been taking place at the community rooms within John Paul II Primary School and are organised by North Lanarkshire Council community learning.
The Babies and Parents @ Play group meets on Tuesday mornings and is suitable for babies until they start to walk. It gives an opportunity for parents and carers and their children to enjoy play experiences together.
Homelink worker Carolanne Waddell said: “Babies and Parents @ Play runs in blocks of six sessions, allowing parents and carers to enjoy sensory experiences with their baby.
“Sessions such as ‘Sparkle and Shine’, ‘Black, White and Red’ and ‘All Things Wooden’ provide lots of opportunities to explore, develop and learn together with some fun, bouncing songs, tickly rhymes and cuddling lullabies.”
On Wednesdays the Tots, Tears ‘n’ Tantrums takes place - an informal eight-week programme which looks at the everyday problems parents and carers experience.
And on Thursdays, Toddler Explorers offers parents and carers the chance to enjoy sensory and play experiences with their children and meet other parents and carers.
A Walk ‘n’ Talk group has also started on Fridays - an eight-week block of buggy walks around the area.
Other groups include weaning workshops, which will provide information about the introduction of solid foods and the overall family diet, and Baking with Toddlers which will let youngsters explore, discover and experiment, and have some fun baking.
