A BELLSHILL schoolgirl is hitting the right notes in her efforts to help charity as well as laying the foundations for, hopefully, a promising singing career.
Rianne Downey (12) was among the acts who took to the stage at the recent Savifest event at the world-famous Glasgow Barrowland.
The Cardinal Newman High pupil was asked to return after performing so well at last year’s Savifest, held to raise funds for the children’s charity Savi which aims to help children who have been sexually assaulted or physically abused.
During the event Rianne, for the first time, sang her own song ‘Get The Picture’ and the young starlet will be in action again on Friday when she performs at the Yorkhill Foundation Christmas Concert in Glasgow City Chambers.
The concert will be hosted by Mark Cox And Jane McCarry, better known as Tam and Isa from ‘Still Game’.
Rianne is also due to release a second charity CD, following the success of a CD she recorded last year for the charity CHAS which raised £2,000.
This year Rianne is recording two cover songs with the Regimental Band Black Watch AFC for inclusion on ‘The Red Hackle’ CD, to be released on December 15 with proceeds going to Help For Heroes and the Army Benevolent Fund.
