On the campaign trail

TWO businessmen seize an opportunity to oust a long-term congressman by putting up a rival candidate in The Campaign, out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie.

Austin Powers director Jay Roach brings together comedy heavyweights Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as they lampoon modern American elections and the influence of corporate money.

Democratic Congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) of North Carolina’s 14th District is running for his fifth term unopposed. However his campaign is damaged by the revelation of an affair with one of his supporters.

Corrupt businessmen, brothers Glen (John Lithgow) and Wade Motch (Dan Aykroyd), use this opportunity to advance their plan to profit from illegal dealings with Chinese companies by persuading naive Marty Huggins (Galifianakis), director of the local tourism centre, to run on the Republican ticket.

The Times & Speaker has two pairs of tickets to the Showcase at Barrbridge Leisure Centre to give away to see any film of your choice.
