A MOTHERWELL band are launching their fourth album in Glasgow next month.

‘The Plimptons are Cynical and Bloated’ follows the six-piece ‘DIY pop’ band’s critically acclaimed 2010 release ‘00s Nostalgia With The Plimptons’.

The new album will be launched at Stereo on Saturday, March 31, with support from We Are The Physics, The Girobabies and Cracktown.

A copy of the 14-track album is included in the £6 ticket price.

The Plimptons first formed in 1999 around the songwriting core of Adam (vocals) and Martin Smith (guitar/vocals), then 16, who shared a common ideal to make creative and upbeat pop music which avoided ‘lyrical cliché’.

Since then they have released three full albums, a series of EPs and attracted a loyal following which has seen them win support slots with the likes of Sultans of Ping FC, bis, Half Man Half Biscuit, Art Brut and Jim Bob (of Carter USM).

A spokesman for 16 Ohm studios who produced the album said: “The album provides half an hour of rough and ready garage pop.”
