THIS year’s Bellshill Street Fair will take place over the weekend beginning Saturday, May 25.
Last year’s fair was moved to the first weekend in June, in common with the normal holiday weekend, as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubillee celebrations, but the 2013 fair will revert back to its tradtional slot.
The event will once again be organised by Bellshill Community Council and the official opening will take place, as usual, at 11am at the Bank of Scotland in Main Street.
There will be musical entertainment from Bellshill Salvation Army Band and Bellshill & District Concert Brass before the main focus will be on the fundraising stalls run by local groups, churches and charities.
And at the top of the Main Street and within the small Tesco car park at the junction of Main Street and Emma Jay Road there will be the usual variety of rides supplied by the Showman’s Guild through M&D Leisure.
Anyone wishing to book a stall should apply to community council secretary Duncan McLeod by e-mail at email@example.com, by phoning 01698 749066 or by letter to Duncan McLeod, 17 Kenilworth Crescent, Bellshill, ML4 3EQ. Stalls will be secured on a first come first basis and closing date for applications is April 14.
A number of dance groups will entertain on the Sunday at James Dempsey Way, while activities on the Monday will include a visiting Strathclyde Fire and Rescue appliance.
