Uddingston hotel dealt with Covid-19 scare

Angels Hotel in Uddingston made the decision to close its doors after learning of a possible link to a case of Coronavirus.

The Main Street premises, which has since re-opened, has been liasing with NHS Lanarkshire for safety’s sake as well as contacting the individuals who visited the venue.

The shutdown occurred on Thursday (August 20) after management received a crunch telephone call.

The hotel’s Bill Sullivan confirmed: “We had a third party contact us who said that they thought someone who had attended Angels on Saturday has since had a positive test.

“We immediately took the decision to close to perform a deep Covid-free certified clean by Azurablu. NHS 24 were contacted for further advice and we followed their guidelines.

“They advised that they wouldn’t be contacting our guests – we have a check-in system in place which everyone has to complete.

“Although nothing was confirmed, we took the decision as a company to close to ensure the safety of our staff and customers

“We have also contacted everyone in the party to alert them to the possible issue. All staff were advised to contact NHS Lanarkshire for a test.”

The Motherwell Times contacted the health board in a bid to shed further light on the matter

By Monday we were told that no positive case had been registered within health board boundaries in regard to the venue.
