Man has passed away after falling on ice in Motherwell

Former soldier Kevin Kelly who was 45-years-old had been trying to keep his balance when he slipped and suffered a serious head injury.

An ambulance took the dad-of-five to Wishaw General Hospital where he was placed on life support

However, in the worst possible start to the year for any family, Kevin died from his injuries on Sunday, January 3.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Around 2.30am on Friday. January 1, police received reports of a man having fallen on Shields Drive in Motherwell.

“The man was conveyed by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital where he later died. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
