Urgent reminder issued by NHS Lanarkshire after spike in demand for tests

NHS Lanarkshire’s public health team is issuing an urgent reminder to self-isolate and book a test only if you have Covid symptoms or you have been instructed to do so by test and protect.

And this stems from the fact that more and more people are asking to get checked out amidst fears that they have caught the virus

Gabe Docherty, NHS Lanarkshire Director of Public Health confirmed: “As a result of a sharp rise in testing requests recently, we would like to take this time to remind the public of the time when they should book a test.

“Tests should be booked in advance. We are asking individuals to self-isolate and book a test if they experience any Covid symptoms. These symptoms are a new and continuous cough, fever or loss of taste or smell. You should get tested if these symptoms are mild and you only need one of these symptoms to get tested.

“Family members are reminded they need to self-isolate if someone in their household develops symptoms. However, they do not need to be tested unless they develop symptoms themselves. If you have been advised to self-isolate for 14 days you must do this even if you have been tested.”

“Information on how to access testing is available from NHS Inform. You can also call 0800 028 2816 if you can’t access the test form online or need help to complete it.

Please do not call NHS Lanarkshire, 111 or your GP to book a test.

“This is because they can’t organise tests or give out test results.”
