The charity was set up in 2011 to focus on raising much needed awareness for Huntington’s Disease, a genetic brain disorder that affects the central nervous system.

Foundation founder Annie Mack said: “There are currently 1,500 Scots suffering from HD with a further 5,000 at risk.

“Being at risk of contracting HD can cause mental health issues from a young age if the right support is not in place.

“We have found that running informal events allows those who attend to engage with HD families in more relaxed environment.

“Our organisation is run by Scottish HD family members on a voluntary basis, it’s non-profit and 100 per cent of monies raised helps to host those events.”

Performing at the event in Bellshill will be Combat Rock - The Ultimate Clash Tribute, Fudgie McFadden, Skapete The Uplifter and DJ Dougie Horn.

The event runs from 7.30-11.30pm and tickets costing £8 can be purchased by e-mailing [email protected].

Annie said: “Raising awareness for HD through live music events is significant as it has enabled us to educate communities.

“This not only means that HD families don’t tend to feel so isolated and can integrate more, but also ensures the right care and support is in place.

“We aim to encourage professionals within the care and health sector and students whose aims are to work within sector to attend our live music events.”
