Scruples nightclub snap would be Turkish delight for new business on same site

A Mossend-based nightspot, which played a big part in the coming-of-age for many of our readers, is the inspiration for a special request.

The former Scruples nightclub is to be turned into a Turkish takeaway called Loki’s, which is set to open by the beginning of October.

However, co-owner Karen Akgul ,nee McEvoy, who originally comes from Holytown, thinks a picture of the premises would add a special nostalgic touch to the decor.

Karen, who is in business with her Turkish husband Lokman, who she met in the popular resort of Marmaris four years ago, and his nephew Muhammed, said: “I used to go to Scruples myself around 25 to 30 years ago and it would spark nice memories for our customers some of whom will have met there.

“However, I can’t find any pictures of the place – not even on Google.”

Anyone who can do so is asked to contact [email protected].
