M&D’s drive-in gig is postponed

A drive-in live music event which was planned to run for two nights at M&Ds next month has been postponed, it has emerged.

The event was due to kick off on Friday, September 4 – and that first night was intended to be a free gig for NHS workers.

However, theme park bosses have now backtracked and admit that they cannot name the date or indeed the line-up for the bash they plan to hold in the future.

A company spokesperson confirmed: “We have taken the difficult decision to postpone the planned Drive In Gigs on 4 and 5 September.

“As the future of events is so uncertain and dates and guidelines are constantly changing, we have decided that the best course of action to ensure everyone’s safety would be to postpone these gigs to a date to be confirmed next year.

“We will honour the free tickets for the NHS workers when the new dates are re-scheduled

“We would ask that everyone get in touch with their details so that we can contact you when a new date has been confirmed for 2021.

“We very much hope that we will be able to bring you the same show in 2021.

“However, until we have a date that we know is going to be safe for the event to go ahead then we cannot guarantee the availability of the acts.

“ We will communicate the new date and confirmed line-up in due course.

“For anyone who has purchased a ticket for Saturday 5 September, we will issue a refund and you can rebook when the new date is named.

“We are really disappointed to be rescheduling but thank you for your support and understanding.”
