Operators of the Hatton Lea Care Home in Bellshill are aiming to bring the feelgood factor to residents next month - through the music of stars such as Louis Armstrong.

A recent survey of 1,000 70-90-year-olds revealed the songs which gave them the greatest sense of wellbeing - with Satchmo’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ top of the charts.

Now Bupa, in partnership with older people’s charity the Royal Voluntary Service - formerly the WRVS - is organising a series of live performances of the most popular songs at its homes as part of Winter Wellness Week from November 11-17.

During the week Bupa’s care homes across Lanarkshire will be treating residents and the local older community to live performances in a bid to boost their feelgood factor.

They will also be providing free food, exercise sessions and advice for winter.
