The music of The Proclaimers is brought to life on the big screen as Sunshine on Leith out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie on Friday.

It is based on the hit stage musical of the same name by Stephen Greenhorn.

The film follows the stories of Davy (George Mackay) and Ally (Kevin Guthrie), who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan.

Both struggle to learn to live a life outside the army and to deal with the everyday struggles of family, jobs and relationships.

Director Dexter Fletcher, at the helm of just his second film, shot the production around Glasgow and Edinburgh so many of the locations will be readily familiar to Scots.

The leads are supported by some top British talent including Jason Flemyng, Antonia Thomas,Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks and Daniela Nardini.

Sunshine on Leith is rated PG and runs for 100 minutes.
