The first T in the Park took place at Strathclyde Park 20 years ago and next summer it will play host to a brand new music festival.
More than 130 acts will perform over the bank holiday weekend from July 31-August 2 at Tfest.
The T stands for tribute and over 40 of the country’s top tribute acts including Oasish, Them Beatles, Dirty Harry, Kazabian and The Underground Jam will be stage over the three days.
However, there is more than just tribute acts on the bill with dance, folk and acoustic artists being signed up to perform as well as a showcase for unsigned acts and top comedy talent.
The festival is the brainchild of John Ure, from Tannochside, who runs the Book A Band agency and is concerned the cost of festival tickets is too high.
He said: “There hadn’t been a multi-day festival at Strathclyde Park since the initial days of T in the Park so we were thinking what could we do and hit upon the idea of Tfest.
“It is primarily a tribute festival with 42 bands across the main stage and the VIP marquee, but there will also be more than 90 unsigned bands.
“We are trying to incorporate as many genres of music as possible so we’ll have dance, folk and acoustic on offer.
“We were looking for an affordable festival for people. I sent my son and my daughter to T in the Park and it cost £480 and out prices would work out less than half of that.
“We just want to bring something back to Lanarkshire and give people a great weekend of entertainment.
“We have the backing of VisitLanarkshire and VisitScotland and a whole load of other people so I think it will be quite big.
“We have capacity for 15,000, but if we can get 5,000 that would be fantastic and give us something to build on.”
