Members of the Pen Pals Creative Writers Group from Motherwell met author Sophie McKenzie, best known for Girl Missing and new book Split Second, as she was anounced as judge of the Pen Pals competition for the short story section.

It is open to second year pupils at Dalziel, Braidhurst and Our Lady’s Highs, with other sections in the competition being flash fiction and poetry, as well as an overall theme story winner.

Each school will have four winners in each section with Supercounty donating prize money totalling £400. The winners will be presented with their prizes on Thursday, November 7.
