A story of love, passion, and betrayal is seen through the eyes of a teenage boy and the man he later becomes in Labor Day, out now at the Showcase in Bargeddie.
Henry (Tobey Maguire) looks back on his fateful 13th year, when he lived with his reclusive divorced mother, Adele (Kate Winslet).
At the start of Labor Day weekend, while on a rare excursion to town, Henry (Gattlin Griffith)and his mother encounter an injured man, Frank (Josh Brolin) who asks for refuge in their home.
Over the course of the next four days, they’re taken ‘hostage’ by a man who ultimately captures them, body and soul.
Based on the 2009 novel by Joyce Maynard, it was adapted by Jason Reitman (Juno/Up In The Air) who also directs.
Maynard’s work was previously adapted for 1995’s To Die For starring Nicole Kidman.
The supporting cast includes Clark Gregg, James Van Der Beek and J K Simmons.
Labor Day is rated 12A and runs 111 minutes.
