Best-selling author and journalist Damian Barr is to give a talk on his latest book ‘Maggie and Me’ at Motherwell Library on Friday at 7pm.

Brought up in Newarthill, Damian’s work is his story of survival in small-town Scotland during the Thatcher era.

Catriona Wales, of CultureNL Libraries, said: “This promises to be an excellent evening.

“With the mix of Damian’s local connections and the memories of local people from the Thatcher years, we can expect a great rapport between speaker and audience.

“As a former Radio 4 Book of the Week, his memoir of these times has reached a wide and appreciative audience, and we’re delighted to have him to ourselves for this one evening.”

Free, but limited tickets, are available by calling 01698 332626 or e-mail motherwelllibrary @cultureNL.co.uk.
