A FORMER Motherwell man will put his body to the limit next month with an incredible feat of endurance.
Colin Aitken (31) has signed up for the London to Paris Cycling Challenge which covers a torturous 480km in just four days to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The challenge which starts on July 4 in South London covers several strenuous hill climbs as the cyclists pedal their way towards the finishing line at the Eiffel Tower.
The former Braidhurst High pupil, who now lives in Leighton Buzzard, warmed up for the event by tackling the Jersey Marathon.
He said: “I expect the four days in the saddle will be demanding but hope with everyone’s support I can make a difference to someone’s life.”
Colin aims to raise £1,600 for the charity and has been busy putting his baking skills to good use with colleagues at Dixons eagerly snapping up his home-made goodies.
His partner Marianne Lee said: “I am so proud of him taking part in this event.
“His job is so demanding and he commutes all over the place, yet still has time to bake every week for donations.
“He has to catch the train with trays of muffins, cookies and all sorts.”
After the cycling challenge the couple plan to test themselves further by participating in triathlon.
