Motherwell FC were defeated 2-1 in Friday night’s friendly against Preston North End at the neutral venue of Livingston.

The scoreline was harsh on the Fir Park side, who created more chances than their English Championship opponents during what was an exciting contest.

Preston scored two fine goals midway through the first half, courtesy of Joe Garner’s header from a Paul Gallagher cross and Neil Kilkenny’s expertly placed shot from the edge of the box.

Motherwell competed well throughout and deservedly pulled a goal back through former Wrexham striker Louis Moult, with the substitute shooting home in fine style two minutes from full-time.
