ALL SMILES . . . members of the Uddingston Ladies hockey side were in a cheerful mood after their final match of the season despite a difficult campaign which saw them finish bottom of the league after drawing one and losing the rest of their games.
The side, made up mainly of young inexperienced players getting their first taste of competitive hockey, endured a difficult start to the season, regularly having double figures scored against them.
But the youngsters’ commitment, enthusiasm and keenness for the game brought considerable improvement after Christmas with the Villagers reducing the number of goals lost and finding the net themselves.
They even managed to restrict runaway leaders Dalziel to a 2-0 win and coaches hope that dropping down a division to West Division 4 will allow the hard-working players to develop further and finally secure some elusive wins.
