A NEW report highlights that the £10 million being poured into sport and leisure services in North Lanarkshire is delivering four times the benefit.
The Social Return on Investment Report indicates that investment by North Lanarkshire Leisure, from public funding, has created a £41 million economic benefit for the area.
Blane Dodds, chief executive of NL Leisure, said: “North Lanarkshire is one of the UK’s most challenging areas in terms of health problems, many of them relating to obesity, poor diet and low levels of participation in exercise.
“It is against this backdrop that we set out to deliver real benefits to our local community through a range of progressive programmes and initiatives.
“This report highlights that for every £1 invested in sports and leisure facilities we have delivered a massive £4 in benefits for the North Lanarkshire Council area.”
