MOTHERWELL golfer Ross Kellett, above, has stormed into second place in the Alps Tour Order of Merit after a sparkling performance in Spain.
He followed his first ever professional win with joint second spot in the latest event of the tour in Madrid.
It included an eight under par round of 63 which he described as ‘probably the best I’ve ever played’.
Despite his efforts Kellett had to settle for a share of second with Northern Ireland’s Gareth Shaw, two shots behind Spaniard Santiago Luna whose final round included an astonishing albatross at the 14th.
Earlier in the month Kellett had won his first tournament since turning pro in January, the Montecchia Open in Italy.
There is now a five-week break before the Alps Tour resumes in Italy at the end of this month.
Kellett said: “After winning in Italy I was really pleased to get another good result in Madrid.
“It’s been a big period in the season with six events in six weeks, so it was important to play well and amass Order of Merit points.”
