A WEEK-long event of international volleyball takes place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in April.
The European Volleyball Confederation small countries junior men finals will involve teams from Scotland, Cyprus, Ireland, Luxembourg, Northern Ireland and San Marino.
Blane Dodds, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure, said: “Attracting such a high calibre event is great news for the area.
“It follows on from the volleyball at the International Children’s Games which proved really popular and I’m certain this event will prove to be another fantastic competition with a great atmosphere.”
Margaret Ann Fleming, chief executive of the Scottish Volleyball Association, added: “There can be few better places to host a prestigious event like this than Ravenscraig.
“It was a pleasure to be invited to watch the volleyball at the 2011 International Children’s Games and if the small countries tournament is half as good as that we’re in for a cracker.”
