Motherwell made a second raid on Ross County last week as they completed the signing of Iain Vigurs from Ross County.

The 25-year-old joins former Stag’s team mate Paul Lawson at Fir Park, who was ‘Well’s first capture of the summer as Stuart McCall’s men rebuild for next season.

Vigurs began his career at Elgin City making his debut 10 years ago as a 15-year-old, spending three years at Borough Briggs.

He then joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle and spent another three years with them before signing for Ross County.

Vigurs made over 100 appearances for the Dingwall club including the Scottish Cup final of 2010 and scoring as the Highland club won the League Challenge Cup a year later.

He also picked up a Division One championship medal in 2011/12 which enabled County to enjoy their first season in the SPL last term.

“Vigurs said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining. Motherwell are a massive club who did so well last season.

“The club has a good fan base and a good manager in Stuart McCall, he was a big pull in me coming here and I am excited about working with him.

“Motherwell as a whole has a good reputation, I have heard nothing but good things and I just can’t wait to get the season started now.”

Motherwell chief executive Leeann Dempster added: “We are delighted we have managed to recruit both Iain and Paul Lawson for next season.

“Obviously this is a summer of change at Fir Park, but with that comes a lot of excitement and Iain’s signing typifies the caliber of player we are looking to bring in for our European and domestic campaign.

“In partnership with the manager, we are working through a list of targets and we are hoping to announce more new signings soon.”

One target ’Well look certain to miss out on is former Rangers winger Gregg Wylde who seems destined to link up with Derek McInnes at Aberdeen following his release from Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

However, they are rumoured to be interested in Rotherham United winger Lionel Ainsworth, who spent the latter half of the season on loan at Aldershot Town.
