MOTHERWELL'S visit to Dundee United on Saturday has been postponed after Tayside Police expressed safety fears.
The host club were already facing a headache about how to clear a foot of snow off their pitch, but now the police have rukled that the area around the stadium and the ground itself is not safe enough to allow the game to go ahead.
SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "I am slightly surprised that the police have issued advice so early, especially when a substantial thaw is forecast over the next two days.
"However, when police advice is on the grounds of safety, we have no choice but to postpone the games."
Junior football sides Bellshill Athletic and Thorniewood United are left playing a waiting game again this week to see whether the weather will relent enough for their games to go ahead this Saturday.
Bellshill's Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third round tie at Shotts Bon Accord and United's Central League First Division home match with St Anthony's were called off last Saturday for the second week running.
Both games have been rearranged for this Saturday with 1.45pm kick-offs.
