Uddingston Hockey Club’s first team travelled to Dundee for an all or nothing double header to reach the grand finals for promotion to Scotland’s top indoor league.
First up was a stubborn Carnegie side and an uncharacteristically slow start from the Villagers saw them fall two goals behind, but recovered to win 7-6 and maintain their 100 per cent record this season.
This victory coupled with Harris beating Monarchs set up a play-off match for the winner to compete in Saturday’s grand finals.
Uddingston beat Harris earlier this season and it was the same story here as they ran out 6-3 winners.
These victories put the Villagers within touching distance of the coveted promotion spot.
They now travel to the Perth on Saturday to face a strong Clydesdale side for the first promotion spot.
Uddingston will be confident going into this game, with having beaten Clydesdale 6-3 earlier in the season.
The runner-up will have a second chance later in the day to get the second promotion spot against the winner of the National 1 relegation battle between Hillhead and Falkirk.
The grand final hit-off is at 12.10pm.
Youth training started back this week, with sessions running on Tuesdays at Holy Cross Secondary,in Hamilton, from 6-7.30pm and Thursdays at Hamilton College from 6-8pm.
