Uddingston woman Christine ‘She-Ra’ Brown admits it hasn’t hit home yet she is set to make her boxing debut later this month .

Brown is involved in the only female fight on Mayhem Boxing’s Fight Club Scotland vs England card at the Alona Hotel on June 20, having been training at Fighting Scots Gym in Mossend.

She said: “It hasn’t sunk in what I am about to do, maybe when I pick up my gear on Sunday it will finally hit home.

“I started going to the gym in November to do the boxing circuits and the head trainer Frank Gilluley asked me about doing the show in March.

“I couldn’t do it, but when this one came up I jumped at the chance, I don’t know yet who I will be fighting, but I’m confident I can win.

“I did some kickboxing training when I was younger and that clearly stood me in good stead as I really enjoy the boxing.

“I initially just did it to try and get fit, but went from strength to strength and found I had a hidden talent for it.”

Brown, who works as a telesales manager, is one of 10 semi-professional Fighting Scots boxers who will take on opposition from down south.

She said: “This is quite a bit different from the day job, I’m used to just sitting typing at a keyboard.

“All the lads have been great with me and I hope I can do my bit to ensure a Scottish win on the night.

“If it goes well then who knows I might take it further.”

The event, which also features live entertainment, starts at 7pm and tickets costing £45 for VIP tables and £40 standing/stalls can be pre-ordered at Fighting Scots Gym.
