Fighting Scots Gym in Mossend held a festive 5K in it’s latest event to encourage local people to get fit.
Dozens of participants donned Santa costumes as they braved the cold and wet to run and walk the street course which started and ended in Adamson Street.
Gym owner Frank Gilluley said: “We want to encourage everyone to get fit and hold different events that can include all ages and abilities.
“We had previously held a triathlon and this was the latest idea we had in order to get all those who come to the gym involved.
“Some people took it very seriously and got fast times, while others pushed prams the length of the course, but the main thing was that everyone had fun.
“It all helps to promote the gym and let people know we are here and it seems to be working as we now have over 30 people attending our 6am classes.”
Meanwhile, Fighting Scots has teamed up with Mayhem Promotions to host Fight Club at the Alona Hotel in Strathclyde Park on March 15.
The evening will feature ten semi-professional fights sanctioned by the European Boxing Federation (EBF), as well as a three course meal, DJ and entertainment.
Frank said: “Semi-professional fights are big across Europe and indeed there are even 1,700 EBF fighters in Europe, and we are trying to bring in north of the border.
“There will be a high standard of fighter on show, with several ex-professionals getting back in the ring, but we are also giving novice fighters their first chance to box in front of a crowd.
“Much like the 5K it is a chance for people of all abilities to have a chance to try out the skills they learn by coming along to the gym.”
Tickets for Fight Club cost £65 and are available from the gym.
