Two members of Dynamic Gymnastics Academy have been selected to represent Scotland.

Courtney Dunbar from Motherwell and Rachel Quinn from Newarthill were in action at the Scottish Voluntary Level’s National Competition in Perth aiming to qualify for the British finals.

Courtney (9) won in the elite level 4 competition, the highest for her age group, by over a full mark placing first on the vault and bars and third on beam.

An uncharacteristic fall on the beam saw Rachel (10)finish fourth in the elite level 3 competition, having been second on bars and third on floor.

Having both secured a top four finish, Courtney and Rachel will now go on to represent Scotland in Guilford next month.

Head coach Julie Graham said: “This is a great achievement for the young gymnasts and the national final is a fabulous experience for them to be part of.”

A number of other Dynamic gymnasts, who train at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, also picked up medals in Perth.

In the level 5 competition, the highest for their age, Keai Crawford (8) from Motherwell won gold on vault and Brodi-Elise Cunningham (8) from Bellshill took silver on bars.

In her first national competition Nicole Watson (14) from Motherwell was second overall in the level 6 competition for age 12+, grabbing bronze on the uneven bars.

Erin Smith (11) from Glasgow won gold for the beam in the level 5 competition for ages 10/11, but injury during her floor routine forced her withdrawal.

In the level 3 competition for ages 11/12 Abbie Nicholl (12) from Chapelhall was second on floor and third on beam.
