Iain Butcher’s manager Paul Graham says the Motherwell boxer becoming a dad just days before his European title fight will not be a distraction.
Butcher is currently at hospital with girlfriend Ashley as they awaited the imminent arrival.
However, Graham is in no doubt Butcher will put fatherhood to the back of his mind to claim the vacant WBO European flyweight title against Hungarian Gabor Molnar at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Friday night.
He said: “It must be playing on his mind, but Iain is so professional that I don’t think it will have any bearing on the fight.
“Last time out against Kevin Satchell he was maybe ready for the fight a week too early, but this time he just has a pound or two to drop and everything looks perfect.
“The last time I saw him in the gym he was absolutely sparkling.”
Molnar heads to Lanarkshire with a decent reputation having won nine of 13 fights by knockout.
Graham said: “Clearly he is a dangerous opponent with that many knockouts on his record so he’s coming here for a fight.
“He has lost three times, but on each occasion it was when he moved up in weight, and all his credentials have been checked out to ensure he’s worthy of a European title shot.
Meanwhile Bellshill welterweight JP McGuinness is set to make his debut on the six-bout card, with Michael Kelly lined up as his opponent.
Doors are at 6.30pm (first bell at 7pm) and tickets costing £40/£30 are available from 01698 338888.
