Opus Energy Brabus Racing rider Deane Brown was in action in the Dutch Superbike event, a support race in the British Superbike Championship meeting at Assen on Sunday.
The Motherwell rider ended qualifying in 11th place and began the race in fourth row. He moved up to ninth and held that until the penultimate lap when the race leader crashed out, gifting him eighth place.
That was no mean feat as the rest of the field was on slick tyres and Superbike spec machines while Deane was riding his Superstock spec Kawasaki with treaded tyres.
Brown travels to Silverstone to contest the penultimate round of the National Superstock 1000 Championship on October 5 when, spurred on by the strong finish at Assen, he will be seeking another good result.
