Motherwell kickboxer Darren Smith moved up a weight level with just ten days notice and became a champion.
Smith took on Jason Baird in Dundee for the IKSA Scottish middleweight title and won in the first round.
His coach Gary McLeary said: “Darren is always ready to fight, but with such short notice against a capable and much bigger opponent we didn’t know how it would go.
“The bout was set for five rounds so I told him just to take it easy early on and feel out his opponent and to take any opportunities that came his way.
“Well he certainly took his opportunity and as soon as he saw an opening he knocked out Baird within a minute.
“He has won other titles, but the IKSA is a big one and I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
