Bowlers Margaret Letham and Caroline Brown were this week named in the Scotland team for this summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Margaret, from Bothwell, and Caroline, from Holytown, were part of a 10-player squad for Glasgow 2014 announced on Tuesday at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre in Glasgow where the matches ill be played from July 24 to August 1.
Both have taken part in past Commonwealth Games with Margaret, in particular, making an impressive fifth successive Commonwealth Games appearance in Glasgow.
She won gold at her first Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 where she took the pairs title with partner Joyce Lindores.
Both Margaret and Caroline were part of the Scottish fours team which won the world title in Adelaide in December 2012.
Maragaret also won a bronze in the pairs at that event while Caroline took a bronze in the fours.
Both women also have Scottish and British titles to their credit.
Each of the 10 bowlers will compete in two of four events - singles or fours and pairs or triples - but with four months still to go until the start of the Games head coach David Gourlay has pledged to keep details of the events in which each bowler will play under wraps, to maximise tactical advantage.
