Forgewood light-middleweight Lee Gallacher looks to build on his debut professional win as he faces Dee Mitchell at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Friday.
Mitchell has lost 60 fights, but has only been stopped twice in 70 bouts, and Gallacher is pleased to have someone who can hang with him.
He said: “The training is going well and we are now stepping up the intensity as the fight gets closer sparring with different people and working on new things.
“My debut wasn’t great, unfortunately after being out the ring for two and a half years the nerves got to me a bit, but I’m over that now and ready to show what I can do.
“Mitchell is a tough, durable guy, his record tells you everything you need to know on that score, and that’s exactly what I need at this stage.
“If I go in and knock out a guy quickly then I’ve learned nothing, but Mitchell should be able to stand with me as I work on shots which is invaluable.”
Motherwell’s Iain Butcher and Uddingston’s Michael McGurk will also be in action on the 12-bout card, however Bellshill’s JP McGuinness has been forced to pull out with an ankle injury.
The event is nearing a sell-out with only £30 unreserved seating available from the fighters or calling 01698 338888.
